How to Start My GDI Business (A Primer)

GDI key

This is the most common question I receive from new team members  and the most recent is from Mr. Fernando M. Jr.  Now that you have found a great and genuine business opportunity and signed-up as a new member,   “How do you profit from it?”

In this post, we will only discuss the general things you would consider in starting your GDI business and not the particular methods. Though planning in most cases would play a vital role in setting up a business (offline), online businesses usually put a light score on this since start up cost is too low. What is important in my mind at this point is more on answering the questions: “what do you really want and what are you going to do about it”. This simply means that you need to put your energies on actions rather than planning. You’ll get what I mean as you read on…

Just like  any other businesses may it be online or traditional offline business, you should consider the following as a guide to determine your success:

  1. Set your personal objective(s). Ask yourself – Where do you want to take your business, what level of success are you looking at, is it a business you will do short, medium or long term? how much time are you willing to put in, what resources are you willing to provide to further grow your business? If this things are clear to you at day 1, then you will have a better picture on what to expect with your business. Try to hold this blueprint in your mind better yet write it so you will not forget. Your subsequent actions will revolve around your objectives. Make sure your objectives are realistic and achievable. Once you start getting consistent results, then set a bigger objective(s) later. Example: Earn $5.00 a day / $150.00 a month.
  2. Focus on your objective(s). Sometimes it is difficult to do this since a lot of noise about different money making programs on the internet can easily distract anyone. I know this because I’m also a victim of these distractions. Try to do one stuff at a time and when you think you are getting your objectives very easily, then it’s time to pick another program to chew. Even if you are itching to join another membership or over confident that you can manage several businesses because you are mister multi-tasking – don’t do it! Spreading your resources thinly will directly affect your main program and ultimately all the programs you went into. You really do not want this to happen.
  3. Learn to earn. A lot of people I know want to earn but not learn. And if this would be your mindset, then this is not the business for you! Everything starts with learning, may it be a baby learning to walk, a teen learning to drive, a millionaire learning to make money, you have to start to LEARN. And by learning, I do not mean you go to school but more of seeing why others are making money. Try researching on the internet, joining online clubs, subscribing to newsletters and emails, etc. anything that will add on to your knowledge to build that business. If you have the budget and want to have the winning edge, you would try to consider enrolling to leading internet marketing coaching /class, some of them with really great deals/offers. Try to connect with people who are in the same industry that are willing to share their expertise.
  4. Execute what you’ve learned. I know what you are about to read is quite controversial but I would recommend, for you to try or apply what you have learned ASAP! Just think of it as a “READY, FIRE, AIM” rather than a “READY,AIM, FIRE” system. Looks and sounds funny at first but this is what the top guns are using as a winning marketing strategy! Japanese makers, Chinese manufactures, Koreans, etc. use such system to cut time in research, product development and just copy what works and improve on it later! What I’m trying to say is, do not try to reinvent the wheel. If  credible people say this stuff works, then do it without hesitation. Try to fine tune it later. I tell you now that this will quickly spring your business in no time!
  5. Make a personal target date. It is always a good practice to have a personal deadline so you know when you will expect results. Bear in mind that it is only you who know exactly what you can do or can’t.  So this is really more of a personal thing rather than an external stimuli. Again, be realistic with your time goals. Example: After 30 days (one month), I will be getting $150.00 from my GDI business!
  6. Reward your self. It’s only proper to give your self small reward(s) as an incentive to your efforts and hard-earned success. You can do this by getting a small portion of your profit and treat your self, family and/or friends! This step usually contribute to accomplish your objective(s), boost self morale and generate gratification from your business. Example: If I get my $150 from this online business after a month, I will buy my family a GRAND PIZZA!
  7. Scale Up. After your personal objectives are met  within your target date(s), you may now consider scaling up your business. Since by this time, you already have the knowledge  using our example – make $150.00 per month, would suggest that doubling your efforts and resources for that particular campaign, will double the profit given the same period. Keep in mind that every campaign has a threshold. Meaning – no mater how much you put in, will not necessarily convert to equal units of profit.
  8. Use appropriate tools, software, or subscription. Doing a single campaign is far more different and difficult to handle when doing several campaigns. You should start to consider adding tools, software, or online software subscriptions to provide automation or shorten tasks that  eat a lot of your time. Remember that “time” is your most precious resource. Sometimes, it will take initially an expensive tool to automate your system but you will save a great deal on time in the long run and make more money in the process.! Buy only the tools/subscriptions you need. To help you to decide when a particular tool/subscription is worth the cost, try to divide your subscription cost over the time you think you will need the tool. Also consider converting your time spent and its equivalent value versus subscribing.
  9. Monitor your results and adjust accordingly. Stats and analytics play a great role in monitoring your business because you can measure and see what is going on with your business. There are a number of this over the internet by searching it on the SEARCH bar and some of it will be discussed in future posts! Just like driving, you need to check your gas, vehicle instrumentation, direction relative to your destination, your budget, etc. Always focus on the road. The main thing about monitoring is, you need a system that will tell you what to fix or to improve on. Also, if a system is not broken, don’t fix it. Concentrate more on what’s not working or the least working.

I’m sure having these 9 pointers in mind will ensure a smooth start and a long profitable GDI business – Your Business For Life!

Have a great day TEAM!
